Molding the artistic minds of aspiring filmmakers into global-ready talents
In the essence of SGX Cares mantra, Better Happens Together, GHY Culture & Media Holding Co., Limited is joining hands with Singapore Exchange to serve their beneficiaries and empower lives in the community.
As a first-time sponsor for SGX Cares Bull Charge Virtual Charity Run 2021, GHY is taking another big step towards making a real difference in the lives of those in need. GHY is no stranger to providing meaningful aid to the communities in which the Group operates, combining its niche in entertainment with its passion to serve others and grow talent in the region.
Developing young filmmakers and writers
With a foothold in the media business, GHY has been progressive in using its expertise to shape the minds of future directors, writers, and filmmakers while welcoming fresh perspectives with a goal to constantly improve. Involved in several scholarship programmes across Southeast Asia, the Group actively sponsors and develops programmes that encourage students to join the industry.
With GHY’s strategic placement within the entertainment ecosystem and its end-to-end production capabilities, the Group is able to provide real world experiences of different stages of the production cycle to aspiring students who are looking to break into the industry.
These initiatives include sponsorships of the China Film Art Direction Academy (中国电影美术学会) and the Beijing Film Academy (北京电影学院), as well as participation in the “Story Lab Apprenticeship” programme, an initiative in Singapore supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA).
Collaborating with Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) in Singapore, GHY also developed and delivered a Chinese scriptwriting course for web films offered on streaming platforms. This ongoing initiative established in 2019 is supported by Iskandar Malaysia Studios and the IMDA.
GHY also has several ongoing initiatives with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), collaborating with NYP’s School of Interactive and Digital Media. Together, GHY and NYP worked on the project, ‘’The Ferryman – Legends of Nanyang 灵魂摆渡 ● 南洋传说” for the students’ final year project. This was a tremendous feat that provided first-class, hands-on experiences to the students. The series premiered on iQIYI on 24 August 2021 and was well-received.

Supporting less privileged students and those in need
Apart from supporting aspiring students in their ambitions and providing them with an important platform, GHY is also active in its charitable pursuits that provide support to less privileged students.
In March 2021, GHY started working with four registered charities and provided vouchers to beneficiaries for the purchasing of books, school essentials and educational aids across 70 locations in Singapore. With the assistance of social workers from various charities, over S$10,000 worth of vouchers were distributed to nearly 350 children in need from underprivileged backgrounds.
The Group is also in discussion with several education institutions to provide financial support through scholarships and bursaries to nurture the next generation of digital media and media production professionals. This would provide students the opportunity to work on content for an international audience that could be a gamechanger in their career aspirations.

Making waves beyond the entertainment industry
The evolution of the entertainment industry is ongoing and sustainable innovation is key in remaining relevant. Leveraging on GHY’s strong network of business relationships and partnerships in the region, the Group takes pride in continuously making an effort to elevate communities by empowering individuals. GHY ‘walks the walk’, going beyond the provision of financial resources to address more critical issues at its core, playing the role of a leading entertainment company on and off the air, and developing an ecosystem for future talent to thrive in.
