Forging Relationships That Build Communities
Creating Value for Shareholders
Pacific Century Regional Developments Limited (PCRD) is an investment holding company based in Singapore with operations in the Asia-Pacific region. It has interests in information technology solutions, media and telecommunications. It also has stakes in logistics and property development and investment. In Hong Kong, it has investments in PCCW Limited, a provider of telecommunications and information technology services.
Investing in Communities for Societal Growth
Its CSR initiatives are anchored on its commitment to operate in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner and providing a valuable service to society. Meeting this commitment is an important management objective and the individual and collective responsibility of all employees.
For PCRD, fostering good relationships within local communities is an integral part of its business. Its subsidiaries, associates and investee companies, including PCCW and HKT, are actively engaged in philanthropic and volunteer work. Employees at all levels are encouraged to engage in community service and participate in charitable events.
One of its efforts is focused on bridging the digital divide in local communities. It supports programmes for technology literacy to help marginalised sectors gain easier access to information and communications technology. It also provides financial support for students in ICT and related fields through scholarships and bursaries.
PCRD upkeeps its commitment through charitable donations and sponsorships of community activities in Singapore such as the Singapore Repertory Theatre and the SGX Bull Charge Charity Run.
SGX & PCRD: Building A Sustainable Community Together
For five years now, PCRD has been generously supporting the SGX Bull Charge charity initiative. It believes that the annual charity run provides an opportunity for the industry to come together and rally for worthwhile causes. Moreover, it motivates participants to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Every year, many employees of PCRD and its group companies look forward to the Charity Run. Aside from helping raise funds for charitable organisations, they also get to unwind and spend time with colleagues who work in different offices and locations after the run.
This year, employees of PCRD and all its sister companies in Singapore were encouraged to enter the first ever SGX Bull Charge Virtual Charity Run. 17 athletes and 17 coaches from the Special Olympics also joined in the run with PCRD. One of their coaches is PCRD’s managing director Peter Allen, who also participated in the Chief Challenge run. Mr Allen set a personal goal of 100 kilometres within two weeks, while the collective goal of the entire PCRD team was 800 kilometres, to further contribute to the total community distance.
PCRD believes that volunteerism and participation in charitable events is a way to bring awareness to society as well. It is thankful to SGX for the opportunity to support the underprivileged through the SGX Bull Charge Virtual Charity Run. It also commits to continue giving back to the community as it supports future charitable initiatives.
