The Spirit of Giving Goes Beyond Borders
SGX Bull Charge has been hugely successful over the years through the continued and generous support of its corporate partners and sponsors. While many of its sponsors are based in Singapore, it has also been fortunate enough to receive immense support from global companies.
Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) is among the corporations unencumbered by physical borders in aiding disadvantaged and marginalised sectors. Through the years, it has uplifted local communities and supported individuals in Thailand and other countries.
Creating and Sharing the Value of Growth
The CSR efforts of ThaiBev are wide-ranging. They span demographics and go beyond the borders of ThaiBev’s home market. ThaiBev’s efforts focus on key areas that help improve the quality of life across communities, advance society as a whole, and safeguard the environment.
Advancing Education and Public Health
ThaiBev and its subsidiaries have been strong supporters of education and public health projects. In 2019, the Group contributed 1,112 scholarships to its employees’ children. It has also been supporting the Beta Young Entrepreneur Project, a programme that provides youths with the opportunity to learn how to operate real businesses. To advance public health, ThaiBev also supports the Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital, which treats patients with kidney diseases as well as other general conditions, and researches on the prevention of chronic renal failure.
Fostering Sports, Arts, and Culture
ThaiBev also supports sports development projects and encourages appreciation of the arts and culture. One of its projects is the ThaiBev ThaiTalent programme, which inspires and empowers talented Thai youths to excel in their fields. In 2018, ThaiBev also played a role in the inaugural launch of the Bangkok Art Biennale, which is back for its second installment this year.
Strengthening Community and Social Development
ThaiBev supports local communities through various programmes, including the “ThaiBev Unites to Fight the Cold” project and the Pracharath Rak Samakkee public-private community partnership programme. These help uplift living standards and enhance economic opportunities in grassroots communities.
Support that Goes Beyond Borders
ThaiBev extends its CSR initiatives to Singapore. As the brewer of a beer called “Chang”, which is Thai for “elephant”, ThaiBev demonstrates its commitment to the research and conservation of Asian elephants by adopting “Chawang”, a bull elephant at the Singapore Night Safari. It has also donated to Wildlife Reserves Singapore to support the organisation’s conservation efforts.
Both ThaiBev and Singapore Exchange are committed to enabling growth and sustainable development. Their CSR initiatives are centred on creating opportunities that contribute to societal growth, empowering communities, and caring for the environment.
They constantly collaborate on projects that can help uplift the lives of disadvantaged and marginalised sectors. Representatives from ThaiBev also regularly join outreach activities sponsored by SGX such as the AWWA van relaunch, where transportation is provided to children with special needs and their caregivers to commute to school more conveniently. With this, they hope to ease daily struggles and help local communities thrive despite limitations.
ThaiBev also generously supports SGX by donating funds for the SGX Bull Charge’s beneficiaries. During the 10th anniversary of the SGX Bull Charge, the ThaiBev Group donated a sum of S$200,000.
Going the Extra Mile Together
ThaiBev has been giving unwavering support to SGX initiatives since 2006. As a long-standing supporter for the past 14 years, it remains one of the biggest corporate sponsors of the SGX Bull Charge. Every year, ThaiBev sends a team of senior management representatives and investor relations staff to Singapore to participate in the SGX Bull Charge Charity Run.
This year, ThaiBev is encouraging staff from Singapore-based subsidiaries and affiliates to help rack up kilometres that equate to funds for various beneficiaries of the SGX Bull Charge. Both groups are going the extra mile to ensure that societal gaps are narrowed.
As the SGX Bull Charge goes virtual, ThaiBev representatives, from senior management to staff, are determined to run strong and surpass the 100,000-kilometre target as one community.
